Do you want to provide someone a “hand up in life, instead of a hand out”? Do you believe in giving people another chance? Do you believe no one should go hungry? Each year we advocate for these issues through Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. This is an annual program where people come together across the city to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness.

Please join us in raising awareness by providing a new or gently used backpack filled with 15# of canned goods, thermals, socks, etc. Many of our guests arrive with just a backpack filled with all their possessions, with many not having proper shoes to wear. So, for just one day, let’s walk a mile in their shoes.

We will begin the walk at the memorial for the homeless in our community, which is located at 6th Street and the Big Sioux River (behind LSS Building). For more information or to registration for the walk, go to www.stfrancishouse.com, click on the event tab, then Walk A Mile In Their Shoes. For questions or additional information please contact us at 605-334-3879 ext 11 or director@stfrancishouse.com.
