Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The St. Francis House held its ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate its beautiful new home on Thursday, August 19, 2021. It was a celebration for all the love and support we received during the construction of our new home.

The ribbon cutting took place outside the front door, located at 210 N Sherman Ave. Following the ribbon cutting, tours of the new building were provided and a picnic was held in the parking lot. Members of the South Dakota Air National Guard grilled the hot dogs and served the food at the picnic.

Several special guests were in attendance. Among those included Rev. David Holm, the former pastor at First Lutheran Church and one of the St. Francis House's founding fathers, and Bishop Donald E. DeGrood from the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls. Bishop DeGrood represented the late Bishop Paul Dudley, another founding father. Bishop DeGrood blessed the new facility. Also present were Jim and Angie Soukup, who served as the chairs of the Homelessness to Hope Capital Campaign, representatives from the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, Senator John Thune's Office, current and past board members, donors, volunteers, past guests and representatives of the many contractors and sub-contractors who built the new St. Francis House.
