Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give. GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity and equity around the globe.

The impact of COVID-19 has been felt at every nonprofit agency in Sioux Falls, including the St. Francis House. Many of our guests have lost their jobs while others have encountered a reduction of hours during this pandemic. In addition, several of our beds have been unoccupied as a result of this time of isolation. We have had to adapt the process in which we receive new guests, receiving guests in increments in order to not spread the virus.
As a housing agency, we remain open 24 hours a day. Staff members continue to provide care for our guests. With the loss of approximately 800 volunteer hours per month, that has meant some staff members have had to work overtime to help meet staffing needs. Those needs include transporting guests to work and organizing activities for guests to help them pass the time.
Your gift to #GivingTuesday will help St. Francis House with its operational costs so we can continue to meet the needs of our guests.
St. Francis House understands the importance of giving back to the community and share its resources with those in need. During this time, St. Francis House makes food boxes and delivers them to the quarantined individuals so they can maintain their physical strength.
By making a contribution to #GivingTuesday you will be providing a gift of hope to those in our community during a time when hope might seem lost.

Your gift to #GivingTuesday will allow St. Francis House to continue to share its resources with other agencies in our community as we together provide a hand up to those who are in need.
