Serving a Meal

NOTICE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the St. Francis House is not accepting volunteers or meal servers at the present time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Serving a meal at the St. Francis House is a great opportunity for families, church groups, service groups and businesses to volunteer in a fun environment. Here are some details regarding serving a noon meal and an evening meal.

Noon Meal:
Ideal Group Size:
3-5 individuals
Number of Guests Served: Approximately 25-30 (Weekend numbers can be larger)
Noon meal groups are asked to arrive by 11:45 am and will begin serving at noon. Groups are typically finished serving between 12:45-1 pm.

Evening Meal:
Ideal Group Size:
3-7 individuals
Number of Guests Served: Approximately 55-65 (Weekend numbers can be larger)
Evening meal groups are asked to arrive by 6 pm and will begin serving at 6:30 pm. Groups are typically finished serving between 7:45-8 pm.

We offer a variety of options for serving a meal. Below is a description of those options. Pick the option that best suits your group.

1) Serve the Meal Only
  • Arrive by 11:45 a.m. for noon meal or by 6:15 pm for evening meal.
  • Serve the meal that is prepared by the St. Francis House staff.
  • Eat and interact with our guests.

2) Provide a Full Meal
  • Arrive no later than 11:45 am for noon meal or by 6 pm for evening meal.
  • Provide and/or prepare a meal on your own. Some groups like to do all of the cooking on their own, while other groups prefer to purchase food from local restaurants. The choice is yours.
  • Eat and interact with our guests.
  • NOTE: Food for 80 individuals is needed for evening meals due to a number of guests who work in the evenings and eat after 8 pm.

3) Prepare and Serve the Meal - Evening Meal Only
  • Arrive by 5 pm.
  • You will prepare a meal based on the menu items selected by the St. Francis House staff. All food items will be provided. You can use our kitchen to prepare the meal.
